[NEW RELEASE] 4Phor – “Music & Me” FREE Mixtape

Once again, I’m introducing you to another act I think you should pay attention to. His name: 4Phor of the Boogie Down BX (The Bronx if you haven’t caught up yet). You may remember him from my recently leaked, raw-pressed release of “Runnin’”. He was the perfect touch for my track, and now you can hear more of what he’s about on his latest FREE – can’t stress it more – FREE mixtape entitled Music & Me.

On this album, he reveals all sides of his personality – pain, passion, growth, rawness, and plenty of humor – to get you through your rough work week. Believe me…he understands. His style is unorthodox, but the content is dense. Curious yet? Download a copy of his mixtape here, or click on the photo above. Vibe to it, embrace it, and most importantly, enjoy and repeat it. Posting this is the least I can do for this man, he shouts out DMV any chance he gets…that’s real, y’all. One!

[VIDEO] Gods’Illa – “Got Y’all” (Debut Video)

Every now and then, I post an entry in support of people I know that are immersed in this music venture like myself. Today, I bring to you some cats that I’ve known for a while now, and they’re on the come-up. Representing the DMV, I bring to you…Gods’Illa!

Gods’Illa is comprised of three blood brothers – Ace, Truth Allah, and Powerful. They are Five Percenters that preach their teachings through Hip Hop, but it’s definitely a groove you can move to. “Got Y’all” (produced by DMV’s own, Joe D.), the latest single off of their EP, The Pre-Lease, is a taste of what they bring to the table of this Hip Hop game. Check out their debut video for this single, featuring cameos from some of DMV’s finest.

If you can’t believe in Wale (I tried…), believe in these brothas. Peace.

What’s good, fam! I just want to take a few minutes out to discuss the concept behind my upcoming album, The FREE SapphicSoul EP. Well first off, it’s going to be a FREE download, of course, for all the world to enjoy! But, it won’t be your typical “Oh, I’m just gonna throw my leftover tracks on this one” EP – no, this will contain 9 ALL NEW tracks from yours truly (did I mention that there might be a BONUS TRACK included for the QN5 fans…? But, that’s just a rumor, heheheh… ).

All 9 songs are produced by DMV’s finest, Algorythm, and features the likes of Substantial, 4Phor, Purple Haze, Tough Dumplin, George Reefah, Toby (of Inverse), and many more! I have a few surprises up my sleeve, so don’t sleep on this EP!

The FREE SapphicSoul EP is set to be released early next year, so be on the lookout. For now, here is an EXCLUSIVE to hold you down for a while – a “raw” release of one of the singles off the upcoming EP – “Runnin’” feat. 4Phor. Enjoy, and pass it around…one.

My bad, y’all, I’m soooo late with this one…well, I’m busy! The FREE SapphicSoul EP is coming atcha soon and I’m on that! Forgive me. :)

The faithful fans of QN5 Music put together a free fanzine about their favorite artists for the rest of the world to read about. Fanzine Co-contributor Zack Edwards aka “Houstonz” came to me and asked to interview me about my future plans – and I happily accepted.

There’s so much jam-packed into this FREE fanzine besides my segment, that it would be a sin NOT to at least take a look! Check it out and drop me a line here. Again, you’ll learn some new things about me that you never knew (ex: how I met and befriended frequent collaborator Substantial).

Pick it up! You won’t be disappointed. Shotout to the ENTIRE QN5 Staff!

For those that attended the QN5 Megashow at New York’s Highline Ballroom on August 7, 2009, I, as well as the QN5 clan, hoped you enjoyed your buns off (I’m sure you did!). For those that missed it…well, you’re gonna have to settle with these photos – which are great – but, you’re just gonna have to wait until next year for the amazing live experience.

These awesome photos were taken by Darren Nanos of JustAVisual Studio. What’s so great about these photos is that they capture the energy that was permeating throughout the night. I think everyone felt it (except that frantic and pissy stage manager at Highline); it was definitely a night to remember for many of the people that came by to support this New Hip Hop Movement.

Personally, it was one of the best experiences of my entire life. I was with like-minded individuals that showed so much love. The crowd was absolutely AMAZING! I felt so free on that stage…your love truly lifted me that evening.

Anyway, thank you from pit of my very soul, and enjoy the photos.

If you missed this year’s Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest in Washington, DC, you missed a lot! The biggest and brightest of the DMV’s emerging Hip Hop and R&B scene all convened at Marvin Gaye Park for a family affair that was perfect for the summer weather. Hundreds of people came out and showed their support for the artists, Liberated Muse (the orgainzers), and their home sweet home.

I took a Greyhound bus down to perform with none other than my friend and big brother, Substantial…and, no question, we BODIED the crowd with our performance! The fest was amazing, and the energy was so positive. Thanks to everyone for making the 2009 Capital Hip Hop Soul Fest a great success!

For those that missed the performances…shaaaame! :( Still, I pitty you poor souls, and that’s why you’ll get to see some highlights from the  day’s event. Substantial and myself are in a couple clips (13:45 and 17:10), so click on the photo above to watch.

If you are a fan of good music, become a fan on both of these sites. If you have yet to become a fan on MySpace, now is the time to do so.
